As per the information available, the company recently shared with its employees that it will shift sales jobs connected to World Choice Travel, a hotel room consolidation and distribution business, to WNS. The jobs are expected to migrate to India by mid January 2007, and the outsourcing is likely to be completed by March 2007.
“This situation is about Travelocity making smart investments in shaping the future of all of our businesses,” the company said in a prepared statement.
Travelocity first partnered with WNS in 2004, and the firm now handles duties including some customer service, clerical processing and finance. The latest shift of jobs to the Indian firm does not have an impact on the firm’s Southlake customer service center.
“The affected professionals of the company might get shifted to some other jobs within Travelocity, most probably at Travelocity Business, while those who are unable to find other jobs in the company will get a severance package,” as per the reports.
